used books new start

used books can help raise funds for canadian and international literacy programs through used books new start (ubns).

for the week starting feb 4, canadian corporations are being called to action to collect and ship used books, fiction and non-fiction, to a central depot. the books collected can then be remarketed by ubns through various web portals such as amazon and ebay by partnering with better world books and the net proceeds will be directed towards local and global literacy programs.

adam hill, founder of ubns said,

“I believe my success in life and career has been largely attributable to my access to education and books. Can you imagine the possibilities for our world if everyone could read? What emerging leaders would we have developed by giving them a start with education? These are the exciting questions I asked myself when I realized that making a difference is not as hard as it may appear.”

organisations that will benefit from the 2008 campaign include room to read and the canadian library association.

ubns is hoping to collect 1million books through this corporate campaign. will you be helping? drop me a line and let me know of your success!
